    PCAMRD GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
     
 
The PGRFP provides scholarship grants to deserving and qualified researchers of the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development System (NARRDS) who will pursue PhD and MS programs in the fields of fisheries and aquatic resources. It also provides financial assistance. tho those who will be pursuing Masters on Aquaculture (MAq) and Masters in Marine Affairs (MMAP).
 
     
 
The accredited institutions where scholars will undertake his/her degree are as follows:
 
     
 
- Central Luzon State University, Muñoz, Nueva Ecija
- University of the Phiippines - Marine Science Institute, Diliman, Quezon City
- University of the Phiippines Los Baños, College, Laguna
- University of the Phiippines in the Visayas, Miag-ao, Iloilo
- Mindanao State University Naawan - Naawan, Misamis Oriental
- Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology, Fort Pilar, Zamboanga City
- University of San Carlos, Cebu City
- Siliman University Marine Laboratory, Dumaguete City
 
     
 
Who are eligible to apply for the fellowship?
 
     
 

Researcher of the NARRDS member institutions are given priority in the fellowship program based on the Zonal Network Human Resources Development Program for aquatic and marine sector. Fellowship applicants must have a regular (plantilla) appointment in his/her mother (recommending) agency.

Before filing the application, applicants should have applied for admission at the Graduate School of the institution offering the graduate program. Only applicants with admission will be awarded the fellowship.

 
     
 

Criteria for the Prioritization of PGRFP Candidates

 
     
 
1. Personal qualification

- Communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
 
  2. Professional/Work Experience  
 
- Work experience
- Research/development projects(s) undertaken/completed
- Technical papers published and unpublished
- non-technical papers written
 
  3. Educational qualifications  
 
- Weighted average in college
- Honors/awards recieved
- Graduate course enrolled/completed
- Non-degree training obtained
 
  4. Potential and Future Plans  
 
- Potentials (capability to undertake more responsible jobs)
- Future plans (plans of the candidate after completing his/her program)
 
     
  Requirements for the application to the PCAMRD Graduate Research Fellowship Program  
     
 
1. Endorsement letter from the zonal coordinator;
2. Endorsement letter from the Agency Head;
3. Endorsement from the Central Office and clearance from the Bureau of Agricultural Research upon the recommendation of the Regional Director (in the case of applicants from the Department of Agriculture);
4 A letter from the immediate supervisor indicating the capability of the applicant to undertake a graduate research work and a more responsible job after the completion of the program;
5. Service record indicating the nature of appointment of the applicant. This must be duly certified by the Personnel Officer of the agency or institution;
6. BS transcript of records for MS applicants; BS and MS transcript of records for PhD degree applicants;
7. A copy of the candidates' admission to the Graduate School;
8. A letter of intent/application for the scholarship grant addressed to:

  Benefits  
  PCAMRD provides the following benefits during the duration of the fellowship:  
 
- Tuition matriculation fee (actual)
- Monthly stipend (P5,500 for PhD/ P4,400 for MS)
- Book allowance
 
 
  PhD MS/MMAP/MAq
Semester P2,500 P2,000
Summer P1,500 P1,000
 
 
Book allowance is given on a reimbursement basis upon presentation of receipts of actual purchases of books and/or production of reference materials for the course enrolled.
- Round trip fares (most economical means of transportation not to exceed P4,000 yearly for the whole duration of the program)
- Financial assistance of PhD and MS thesis/dissertation (P60,000 for PhD and P30,000 for MS)
- Graduation fees (for maximum of P600 and upon presentation of list/receipts of expenses incurred)

The PCAMRD Graduate Research Fellowship Program (PGRFP) is pleased to inform you of the available slots for local scholarships for SY 2006-2007, as follows:
 
 

1. Full time (PhD, MS, MAq, MMAP)
2. Dissertation assistance
3. Thesis assistance

 
 

It should be noted that priority will be given to those who will be pursuing graduate degrees in the fields of aquaculture, marine science/fisheries biology, environmental science, fisheries economics, food science/processing and other related fields.

Deadline for submission of application is on April 30, 2006.
